The Real Breakfast of Champions: Green Smoothies!

Green smoothies can range from super simple to very elaborate, but the most amazing thing about them is that no matter how complex the ingredient list gets all you need to do is throw everything in a blender (quick cleanup too!). For those who are new to green smoothies it’s good to start with a 60:40 ratio of fruits to vegetables and as your body and taste buds become more accustomed to greens you can aim for a higher portion of vegetables. I like to have a 60:40 ratio of greens to fruit in my smoothies, but that didn’t happen over night. When you begin adding more greens to your diet you’ll find that your body responds positively and begins to crave raw greens. Try having a green smoothie everyday for a week and see how you feel!

Green smoothies are very easy on your digestive system and because they are already blended your body is able to assimilate the vitamins and nutrients from the fruits and vegetables right away. You’ll feel instantly energized! The possibility for combinations is truly endless but here’s a recipe for a good place to start.
