Popeye’s Blueberry Smoothie

Packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, blueberries are a summer treat that are super healthy and energizing. Fresh blueberries are one of my favorite things to add to green smoothies because their tangy-sweet flavor remains prominent no matter how packed with greens your smoothie gets.
Spinach is one of the most neutral flavored greens (perfect for people new to green smoothies) and it’s nutrient dense- just one cup provides more than the recommended daily amount of vitamin k and vitamin a. Spinach is also rich in protein, but for a more powerful green drink this this recipe for Popeye’s Blueberry Smoothie also calls for protein powder. I use Nutiva hemp protein but if you don’t have protein powder try substituting a handful of almonds or scoop of almond or peanut butter.
Popeye’s Blueberry Smoothie
makes 2 servings
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup blueberries
- 2 bananas
- 3 cups spinach
- 4 tbs hemp protein powder
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- 1/2 cup non dairy milk
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in blender until completely smooth, enjoy right away!
