Vegan Sweet Lemon-Turmeric Smoothie
With the weather here in New York finally getting warm enough to make it actually feel like spring, I’m finally craving all the springy flavors!
My number one favorite spring flavor is lemon- the freshness just seems to go perfectly with the warmth, sunshine and blooming flowers outside. Also in the spirit of it no longer being freezing cold, I’m finding myself craving light and fresh smoothies! No more hearty soups and stews for this gal (just kidding! I love all things hearty all year long but I do love eating more light and fresh foods in the spring and summer).
Today’s Vegan Sweet Lemon-Turmeric Smoothie is the definition of fresh-for-spring. It’s super easy to make, but seriously so refreshing, especially as an afternoon snack. It’s the perfect balance between tangy and sweet, plus the turmeric adds a little spice and kick.
I’m always looking for ways to incorporate turmeric into recipes, since it’s anti-inflammatory, full of antioxidants, and basically so darn good for you! I’m not a fan of “detoxing” but turmeric is a great ingredient to focus on if you’re interested in resetting after the long winter months.
- ¾ cup plain or vanilla nondairy yogurt
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 cup almond milk
- ½ cup ice
- juice of 1½ fresh lemons
- 4 pitted dates (soaked in hot water for 5 minutes if not soft)
- 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
- ¾ teaspoon ground turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Transfer to glasses to serve.
Does the tumeric stain your blender?
I always make sure to clean my blender out immediately so the turmeric doesn’t have a chance to sit!

Ahhh! This looks so refreshing and spring is upon us. Can’t wait to try this smoothie out. I love the idea of lemon and turmeric for the medicinal benefits. Thanks!
What a lovely smoothie! Turmeric is my favorite ingredient in vibrant recipes–so high in antioxidants and cancer-fighting properties! It tastes great too, just as long as you pair it with complementary ingredients.
Hi Ilene,
I loved this recipe so much that I featured it on my best of post, ’27 HEALTHY Smoothie Recipes’.
I have not shared the exact recipe, only one image from here, a small quote and all credits given to you and linked back to this page.
I would love it if you came and checked it out.
Have a fantastic day!
