Easy Vegan Sugar-Free Iced Mocha

This one is for the mamas and the papas! Or really anyone who, like me, is in a period of their life where they are so far beyond exhausted (spoiler alert- having 2 kids is exhausting!), that they need a truly great afternoon pick-me-up treat.

I’m not totally sure what to call today’s recipe since it’s kind of a cross between an iced mocha and chocolate milk, but whatever you want to call it, it’s basically magic in a glass. I’ve been making this Easy Vegan Sugar-Free Iced Mocha (ok, let’s go with this name!) most afternoons for the past couple of weeks when the temperature pops above 60 degrees- hello iced coffee(slash delicious cold beverages of all kinds) season!
It’s sweet, it’s caffeinated, it’s chocolate-y and it’s refined-sugar free so it will perk you up without leaving you in a sleepy sugar coma.
I’ve found that 1/2 cup of coffee is usually the right amount of caffeine for me (sometimes I reduce to 1/4 cup coffee and add 1/4 cup milk), but feel free to tweak the coffee to milk ratio to suit your preferences. It could even be made coffee-free for kids or anyone who doesn’t want caffeine served as a refined-sugar chocolate milk!
- ½ cup cold coffee
- ¾ cup unsweetened nondairy milk
- 1 medjool date, pitted (soak in hot water for 5 minutes if not soft)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1-3 teaspoons maple syrup, added to taste
- Add all the ingredient to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Serve in a glass over ice.
