Use a fine-mesh strainer to rinse the quinoa under running water (this removes the quinoa’s coating, making it less bitter).
In a medium pot, bring the water or vegetable broth to a boil over high heat. Add the quinoa and salt, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
Turn the heat off and let the quinoa sit for 5 minutes before serving. If you are not using the quinoa right away, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
