Protein Power Smoothies
Earlier this week, my friend Scott stopped by on his way home from a workout at the gym. It was perfect timing because I was planning to go to a Zumba class later that afternoon (don’t laugh!) so I decided to make us a snack that would be full of protein for him and energizing for me. This Protein Power Smoothie was rich and creamy, full of fiber, iron, protein and antioxidants, but it tasted more like a dessert than a protein drink!
Lately I’ve been adding a scoop of coconut manna to my pre-workout smoothies. I find that it provides long lasting energy during the workout and I don’t feel too worn out or tired on my way home. You’ll notice that this recipe calls for hemp protein powder. I use Nutiva hemp protein but if you don’t have protein powder try substituting a handful of almonds or scoop of almond or peanut butter.
